Walk a stretch of the stunning South Downs Way from Cheesefoot Hill, a site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), beauty spot and natural amphitheater in the South Downs National Park.
The South Downs Way is an ancient trail running 160km from Winchester to Eastbourne. It can be attempted in one go, or in stages, or you can simply enjoy the scenery on a short circular or 'there-and back' walk.
From Cheesefoot Hill head west into Winchester city or over to St Catherine's Hill with a nice loop back via Morestead Down. Heading East (well, initially North for a bit) takes you towards Cheriton and on to Beacons Hill Nature Reserve.
Free public use.
Dogs welcome.
Often a mobile cafe parked up on weekends or there is the Cadence club cafe just down the road
No toilets on site
Camping at Holden Farm a few miles down the road
