Walk the south side of the Gwydir Forest Park from Betws-y-Coed in search of the hidden mountain lake Elsi with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. This side of the forest is best accessed directly from Betws y Coed, starting with a signposted trail behind the church heading steeply into the woods, up into heathland and on to the lake. There are numerous routes that you can explore around the lake and the forest paths to either return the way you came or circle back round, including a long loop via swallow falls.
