Swim in the Afon Conwy from Llanwrst, an iconic spot in the centre of this pretty market town in the Conwy valley with views over to the Gwydir Forest. Here by the bridge and the famous Tu Hwnt Tearooms there are steps down to what is often an exposed shingle beach. The river is great to swim in, despite what can be a strong current where the water narrows under the bridge. The river here varies in flow dramatically depending on recent rainfall and often floods its banks, so take account of this in your plans to visit and only swim if you are confident with the water flow.
